Patronus Medical Maritime Services Division is led by physicians who provided direct medical care to the President of the United States in the White House, aboard Air Force One, and on naval vessels all over the world. Our medical team has a long history of service in the United States Navy, Army, and Air Force as well as in the private maritime industry. Uninterrupted access to trained medical providers for assistance with the assessment, treatment and stabilization of patients experiencing a medical emergency

Patronus Medical Maritime Kits (MCA compliant configurations available), Provision and maintenance of AED devices, and other medical supplies

CONTINUITY OF CARE

The ability to quickly and safely coordinate continuity of care for a patient to an appropriate medical facility in the event of a serious medical condition

Medical training for the crew with annual recertification

PROTOCOL & POLICIES

Medical protocols and policies including a patient assessment and care checklist

REPORTING

The Patronus electronic medical record system (EMR) allows for easy reporting for future care

Medical Support Services

Our Medical Support Service provides access to our network of Physicians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Using established clinical protocols, equipment, and medications, our team coordinates with the crew to provide the following medical services for both crew and guests:

  • 24/7 access to immediate medical care for assessment and stabilization of patients experiencing a medical emergency
  • Access to trained medical providers for guidance and basic care of simple medical concerns
  • Proactive logistics and protocol management on behalf of the owner, crew and guests
  • The ability to quickly and safely evacuate a patient to an appropriate medical facility in the event of a serious medical condition
  • Coordinated continuance of care for any evacuations or referrals
  • Adequately stock and maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment consistent with the needs of the owner, crew and guests
  • Confidence that all crew have basic life support training, with ongoing training, as necessary
  • Documentation of all clinical interactions in the Patronus electronic medical record system (EMR) which will allow for easy reporting and continuity of care with any physicians or specialists
  • Medical Staffing to accompany an ill/injured guest or crew member if needed

Equipment and Medications

Patronus orders, maintains, and manages Patronus Maritime Medical Kits (MCA Compliant as needed) for the vessel, ensuring that items are replaced as they’re used or expired. Medical supplies include:

  • A customized Emergency Medical Kit (EMK) that meets MCA specification MSN 1768 requirements and Patronus Medical Standards
  • Approved AED devices and related supplies
  • Custom tailored medical Go Bags with supplies and pharmaceuticals
  • Inventory management and oversight
  • Several key telemedicine pieces of equipment as determined; for example – vital signs monitor, stethoscope, otoscope and general examination camera
  • Documented periodic equipment and supply checks
  • Patient packaging equipment as determined by assessment

Training

Patronus provides training for the crew specifically designed for the needs of the vessel and anticipated deployments. These exercises include standard CPR / First Aid, customized training on policies and procedures, use of the EMK(s) and AED(s), and communication with Patronus Medical Team Assets.

Policies and Procedures

Patronus develops policies and procedures corresponding to client needs for all aspects of the medical services program, including the following:

  • Accessing medical services/communication protocols
  • Evacuation protocols and procedures
  • Clinical protocols
  • Checklist for patient assessment
  • Use of the EMK(s) and AED(s)
  • Diversion protocols and procedures
  • Medical records protocols
  • Clinical quality assurance protocols
  • Description of scope of services to communicate to guests, visitors and crew
  • Reporting frequency and format
  • Strategic placement of medical equipment

Clinical Space Design and Advisory

We provide medical advisory services on new build and retrofit design considerations. The complex nature of integrating medical assets and resources in a ship-based environment while contemplating innovative telemedicine technologies can be a daunting task. Considerations for technology, telemedicine assets, communications integration, physical design, medical formulary, clinic / infirmary, among others are all critical in the total provision of a well-designed and managed care-delivery.
